Militants slain in Pulwama affiliated with Hizb; one was part of the group that killed Aurangzeb: Police

Srinagar, May 18: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday said the three militants slain in a gunfight in Panzgam village of southern Pulwama district were affiliated with Hizb ul Mujahideen.

A police spokesman identified the trio as Showkat Dar of Panzgam Awantipora, Irfan War of Wadoora Payeen Sopore and Muzaffar Sheikh of Tahab Pulwama.

The trio was killed in a gunfight that broke out before dawn.

“On a credible input, a cordon & search operation was launched by police and security forces today morning at Panzgam area in Awantipora,” said a police spokesman.

During the search operation, the hiding militants fired on the search party. The fire was retaliated leading to an encounter.
