Srinagar, September 18: A group of militants burnt down a car of a person when he defied the bandh called by the Al-Badr terror group in Sopore area of Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir.
Bashir Ahmed Khan was driving his Maruti Alto car when it was stopped by four armed men who emerged from a dense orchard.
The men forced him to stop his car and asked him to get out. He pleaded but he was kicked in his knees and then the militants asked him why he was driving when there is bandh and posters by Tanzeems are all over for keeping everything closed.
Bashir pleaded but he was asked to leave the car and run away.
As he walked about 10 meters away, he turned and saw the car up in flames. The militants had vanished into the orchard.
CRPF and Jammu & Kashmir Police were the first respondents. Later, fire brigade came. By then, the car had turned into ash. A case has been registered in Police Station Warpora, Sopore.
Terror outfit Al Badr has put up posters across Srinagar threatening Kashmiris to observe a complete shutdown in protest of the Centre’s decision to abrogate Article 370.
In the posters, Al Badr has threatened those who keep their shops or businesses open beyond 8.30 am with dire consequences.
The terror group has also targetted the police in its threat posters. Al Badr has asked people to socially boycott families of police personnel.
