JAMMU, 19th of June: For the past few days a picture has been doing rounds on the internet in which one can clearly see that the advertisement board has been put up by Traffic Police ( Rural Jammu) and it reads ” Don’t Use Mobile Phone While Drinking” , instead of , ” Don’t Use Mobile Phone While Driving” .

The sign board in question has earned laughter on various networking platforms like WhatsApp, Twitter , Facebook etc. for the simple mistake of replacing ‘driving’ with ‘drinking’.

However, the police department felt the heat after Netizens started poking fun at the department. Going beyond the sense of humour, Netizens raised questions on the seriousness of the officers responsible for the installation and maintenance of the board.

Most of the users were of the opinion that if the agency responsible for installation of this msg board were so non serious themselves, then how can a common man be expected to take the msg seriously.

Even though most of the Netizens were in a humour mode, a sizeable number of users took exception and looked at the matter from a serious point of view.

The viral picture and the comments earned by it on the internet seems to have caught the eye of senior police officers and an inquiry has been initiated into the matter.

SSP Traffic, ( Rural Jammu) Mohan Lal Kaith has initiated an inquiry, Order No. :- 143 of 2019, Dated 18/06/2019, into the matter to “identify and fix the responsibility of the defaulters”.

The preliminary inquiry has been entrusted to DySP ( Traffic) Poonch – Rajouri Mohd. Rafiq.

The inquiry officer is supposed to, ” enquire the matter into covert and overt and furnish his report/ recommendations” to SSP Traffic immidiatly for ” further course of action”.

Perusal of the inquiry order, which is available with PAIGAAM , reveals that the sign board in question has been put up at PEER KI GALI Mughal road to “ensure general awareness among the concerned drivers”. However some ” disgruntled elements have changed the nomenclature which is a matter of serious concern and needs to be enquired thoroughly”.
