JMCA Department of University of Jammu serves people with sweet water and eatables.
Jammu, June 18 : MCA department of Jammu University , today, distributed cold ” sweet water” ( syrup water), along with eatables to passersby to provide them with some sort of relief in this scorching heat.
As the heat wave continues to grip northern India, the students and staff of MCA department of University of Jammu have come with a novel idea to serve people with cold water , known as SHARBAT in common parlance. The passersby were also given bread slices and cooked soyabeans.
While talking to PAIGAAM, Ms. Pooja , a Scholar from the department said that the water and food point was basically set up to provide some sort of a relief to the students in this summer heat.
Ms. Alka , another scholar from the department told PAIGAAM that the initiative was taken by the students and staff of the MCA department and each one of them contributed from their own pockets and it was not something that was arranged using some grants, funds or tax payers money in any other form.
On the directions of Head of the Department, MCA Mr. Lalit, a water point ( CHABEEL) cum food point was installed in the parking lot of MCA department and every passerby was basically provided with cold water to drink in order to help them fight of the heat.
The novel idea was lauded by the students and staff of the university who were more than thankful to get chilled water in this scorching heat.
The water cum food stall was set up at around 9 :30 am and students of the MCA department continued serving thirsty people way past the office hours.
Students of the MCA department, while interacting with PAIGAAM expressed hope that their efforts will inspire other students also to take up similar activities and will join them in social service drives in future.
