New Delhi: The theft of five luxury cars from an automobile workshop at Nangloi in West Delhi, which comes barely a week ahead of the Republic Day, has put authorities on their toes.
Delhi Police has formed several teams to trace the stolen vehicles. A case has been registered and an investigation is currently underway.
The five vehicles, which have gone missing, include a Volkswagen Polo, Honda Amaze, Force Gurkha, Ford Ecosport and Mitshubishi Pajero.
The owner of the workshop, who has been identified as one Praveen Kumar, said that six cars were parked for repair, when he left the night before the theft. But the following day when he came to the workshop, five of the vehicles were missing.
During the probe, it was found that Force Gurkha SUV is owned by the son of a Defence Ministry official. Arun Maan, the owner of the car, said his father Anil Maan is posted as a superintendent with the ministry.
A CCTV footage from the area showed the thieves driving away with the vehicles. It has been found that there were at least four to five thieves who executed the robbery. The footage is being further analysed to ascertain the identity of the thieves.
