Jammu: With Holi round the corner, markets are abuzz with activity in Jammu. This year, the festival of colours will be celebrated on March 21.
Shops and kiosks are stocked with natural colours, water guns and balloons. Keeping in view the aversion of people to synthetic colours, traders are mostly selling organic ones.
“In the past few years, the demand for organic colours has increased. Customers need quality. We too keep only those varieties which are in demand,” said Ashok Lal, a trader in the old city area.
Several social and educational institutions have already held celebrations by hosting cultural events.
“Despite change in lifestyle, Holi still holds the old charm and everyone participates in the celebrations,” said Agnishikha, a university student.
Meanwhile, the Jammu Municipal Corporation has started inspecting the markets in the winter capital.
