Truck erupts in flames on Srinagar-Jammu highway in Qazigund

Srinagar, April 22: Fire broke out in a truck on Srinagar-Jammu national highway near Qazigund in south Kashmir on Monday, damaging it completely.

Reports said that the truck bearing registration number JK05A 8795 carrying currency notes and other material caught fire near Panzath area of Qazigund due to unknown reasons today morning.

Witnesses said both the driver and the conductor of the truck had a narrow escape, but the vehicle, they said, turned to ashes.

Police has reached at the spot and investigations are going on to ascertain the cause of fire, said an official.

He said they were also investigating the currency being transported on the truck.
