RAJOURI, JUNE 22: District Development Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz Asad today conducted an inspection of major under construction bridges in the district.

The DDC inspected the pace of work going on two major bridges of the district namely Hamilton bridge and Irwin kheter bridge. These two bridges hold significant importance in the area of connectivity and are being executed by the Public works department. The DDC sought the financial and physical status of these bridges.

During his visit to Irwin Kheter bridge, the concerned officer from PWD informed the DDC that it is a motorable bridge with the construction cost of 137 lakhs. He also informed that the total span of the bridge is 48 metres. He further added that this bridge connects the entire border belt areas with one another. The superstructure has been laid and after its completion it would benefit almost 3000 souls.

The DDC fixed the deadline of August, 15- 2019 for the complete construction of the bridge and asked them to expedite the work.

The DDC also visited Hamilton Bridge which is a major bridge of Rajouri town. This bridge connects main Rajouri Town with the other areas like manjakote and acts an alternate route also.

The concerned officer informed that about 70% work on the bridge is complete and the shuttering work is in progress. He added that the construction cost of the bridge is 399 lakhs. The DDC directed expedite the work on the bridge as well as on the approach road at the earliest, so that the inconvenience to the general public can be mitigated.

The DDC directed the executing agencies to complete the work within prescribed time

He directed the concerned Executing Agencies to speed up the construction work on these Projects as they hold great significance in the area of connectivity. He emphasized upon the officers to ensure accountability and transparency. He also asked for the better synergy between departments and executing agencies for better results and timely completion.
