Day 4 of ‘Back to Village Programme’ celebrated across Jammu District continued with great enthusiasm and mass participation.

Jammu, June 23: The ‘Back to Village’ programme aimed to involve the people of the state and govt officials in a joint effort to deliver the mission of equitable development continued for fourth consecutive day across Jammu district today with great enthusiasm and large participation of people across the panchayats of various blocks of the district.

District Development Commissioner Ramesh Kumar on his visit to Bhalwal block today inaugurated the grand rural ‘Back to village- Mela’ where large number of people from different Panchayats of block Bhalwal visited the grand event. On this event the Deputy Commissioner felicitated the single girl child mother under the scheme ‘Beti Bachao Beti padaho’ abhiyan.

Baby kits were also distributed to needy beneficiaries, students who has excelled in academics and in sports including state level players and regional level players were also felicitated in the event by the Deputy Commissioner. Different departments also highlighted there schemes through different stalls exhibited at this event. Cultural activities from information department and other artists were performed in the Mela.

Rural sanitation which has been a major focus of this programme were given a thrust today through a major cleanliness cum awareness drive conducted at block Mandal Phallain by the name ‘Save Tawi’ intiative at Sureychak panchyat of the block where a large number of people from the panchayat contributed towards this cleaniliness campaign. Assistant commissioner development Jammu Aizaz Qaiser and Block Development Officer Madal Sadia Ahmed launched the event under the overall supervision of Deputy Commissioner Jammu.

On the fourth day a total of 103 panchayats of six blocks of the district were covered today where the gazetted officers participated in the Gram Sabhas and held informal interactions with the Panchayati Raj Institutions representatives, frontline government functionaries and prominent citizens discussed and deliberated upon the issues being faced by the locals of the Gram Panchayat. women Gram Sabhas were also organised in many Panchayats, letter of Hon’ble Prime Minister on water conservation were also read out in different Panchayats, social audit teams were organised, enrolment of beneficiaries under PM-KISAN and PM shram Yogi Mandhan Yojna were done by the concerned departments on the spot.

During the third day of the mega programme a number of assets have been inaugurated by the visiting officers under MGNREGA and 14th finance commission, new SBM units in different Panchayats ‘Grah Parvesh’ of PMAY houses were organised at different panchayats of district Jammu.
Six blocks and 103 panchayats have been covered in this second phase out of 7 phases of the programme. The remaining other blocks will be covered in next phases of the programme.
