Chandigarh: A motorcycle thief, who used to steal Bullet motorcycles from paid parking lots, has been arrested by the Chandigarh Police. His arrest led to the recovery of seven Bullet motorcycles and a Hero Honda motorcycle.
A team, led by Inspector Ranjodh Singh, SHO of the Sector 36 police station, arrested the suspect, Gurvinder Singh, a resident of Tarn Taran district in Punjab.
The police recovered seven Bullet motorcycles and a Passion motorcycle, which were stolen from various parts of the city.
The police said three cases registered at the Sector 36 police station and four vehicle theft cases registered at the Sector 49 police station had been solved with his arrest.
The suspect mainly targeted Bullet motorcycles parked in paid parking lots.
The police said bigger parking lots, including the one at the ISBT, Sector 43, were targeted by the suspect.
During the verification of his antecedents, the police found that he had several cases, including one pertaining to murder, registered against him at various police stations in Punjab.
Modus operandi
The suspect used to steal an ordinary motorcycle from the city and then look for Bullet motorcycles parked in parking lots. After locating a Bullet motorcycle, he used to park the other stolen motorcycle next to it. He then used to take the parking slip from the parking attendant and leave. After sometime, he used to return and steal the Bullet and move out of the parking lot after showing the same parking slip, which he was given earlier.
