Chandigarh: Three drug peddlers, including a student of Sri Guru Gobind Singh College (SGGS), Sector 26, was nabbed by the crime branch from different parts of the city while possessing cocaine and heroin. The cocaine seized by the police is worth around Rs 3.50 lakh.
A team of the crime branch, led by Inspector Amanjot Singh, nabbed the three suspects, who were selling drugs across the tricity.
A student of the SGGC was arrested with heroin. Crime branch sleuths said the suspect, Lakhan Chopra, a resident of Sector 27, was arrested while possessing 12 gm of heroin on February 25.
Sources said they had a tip-off about the suspect possessing heroin following which he was nabbed from the rear side of a liquor store in Sector 27.
The suspect is a BA final-year student of the college. Sources said the call detail record of the suspect’s mobile phone was being scrutinised to establish who all were in contact with him.
A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against the suspect at the Sector 26 police station.
Meanwhile, crime branch sleuths today nabbed Suresh Kumar, a resident of Peer Muchala, Zirakpur, while possessing 30 gm of cocaine. He was arrested from the Mauli Jagran police station area, where a case against him under the NDPS Act has been registered.
Sources said the suspect used to sell 1 gm of cocaine for around Rs 12,000.
Inspector Amanjot Singh said the suspect used to supply cocaine to high-society people addicted to cocaine. “We will analyse the call detail record of the suspect to identify his clients,” the inspector said.
The accused is involved in making flex boards.
Crime branch sleuths nabbed another drug peddler, Deepak a, native of Kaithal, Haryana, while possessing 30 gm of heroin. He was arrested from the Mani Majra police station area.
The police said the suspect had clients in Chandigarh, Zirakpur and Panchkula.”We will investigate from where he used to purchase heroin,” said a police official.
A case has been registered against him under the NDPS Act.
Cocaine supplied to the well-off
Crime branch sleuths said cocaine was being supplied to addicts from well-off families in the tricity, who were being identified.
