Man dies, 11 injured following blast in Ludhiana factory

Ludhiana, July 26:One man was killed and 11 others injured in a blast in the furnace of a factory in Jhabewal village on the Ludhiana-Chandigarh road in the wee hours of Friday.

One man was killed and 11 others injured in a blast in the furnace of a factory in Jhabewal village on the Ludhiana-Chandigarh road in the wee hours of Friday. 

B.C. Steel factory deals in remodeling hot iron and several employees were on the job when the blast occurred. All the injured are migrant labourers from Bihar and UP.The injured were brought to the Civil Hospital, Ludhiana around 2:10 am. Most of them had burn injuries due to the blast.   

The deceased has been identified as Shambhu (45). Two labourers— Sri Ram(39) and Minto Singh (34)—suffered deep burns and were referred to GMCH Patiala. The rest have been admitted at the Civil Hospital and being closely monitoring.Among the injured are: Rajesh (29), Harinder (22) , Pardeep (22), Ram Kirpal (20), Prabhu (38),Chandar (19), Sanjay (20), Vishwadeep (36) and Deepu (30). 

Police said it was investigating the matter.
