*Several public issues raised, early constriction of Sangpura Vilo Tunnel demanded*

Kishtwar: A deputation of People’s Democratic Party unit Kishtwar led
by its District President Sheikh Nasir Hussain today met Advisors to
Governor and Chief Secretary during their visit to Kishtwar.
The delegation included Zonal president Arshad Hussian Giri, senior
leaders Jaffer Hussain Ganie, Mohd Munwar Butt, Mohd Iqbal, Sajjad Hussain, Mohd Saleem and Roshan Lal
Heading his party’s delegation Sheikh Nasir raised the demand of divisional status for Chenab region before the
advisors. PDP leader raised objections regarding the installation of bunkers in Kishtwar town. He told the advisors that police and other agencies claim Kishtwar as militancy free and if there is zero militancy in the area what is the need of having bunkers or reviving STF. He further said that nakas at different locations on Kishtwar highway and bunkers are becoming matter of inconvenience for the people. We are being pushed back to 90’s which won’t be tolerated. PDP deputation also raised objections over
policy adopted by the AFCON and Jai Parkash Ltd for Pak Dul project
and demanded that management of companies be directed to recruit local unemployed youth on preferential basis through a transparent and foul
proof process. The delegation demanded early start of work on Sanpura Vilo tunnel being a vital link to connect this region with Kashmir valley. It was also told to the advisors that contractors who have been allotted the contracts of man power by NHPC are engaging the outsides, they be directed to engage local unemployed youth. Detailed enquiry into utilization of funds under CSR by NHPC for maintenance of Chowgan was demanded. PDP also demanded that out of hundreds of crores of water cess which the Dul Hasti is paying to state government a reasonable amount be spent for the local area development.
Deputation also also demanded immediate completion of Naigarh project to mitigate the problem of water scarcity and also repairmen of filterplant. Besides other demands PDP delegation demanded opening of women college at Kishtwar, start of work on proposed alternate highway to avoid traffic jamming in town, extension of regular air strip and staff and infrastructure at District hospital and other health centers across the district. To
avoid overloading in passenger vehicles which mostly result in tragic road accidents deputation stressed for providing SRTC buses for
Chatroo, Dool, Keshwan, Palmar, Sigdi, Trigam, Bonjwah and Sarthal
areas. Upgradation of left over school and GDC for Bonjwah was also demanded.
