DDC reviews beautification of Shopian Town
Shopian 25 April : District Development Commissioner Shopian Dr Owais Ahmad today convened a meeting to address the various issues of Town here at Mini secretariat Arhama Shopian.
The meeting discussed issues faced by the people in the town, especially traffic jam, sanitation issues, encroachment by street vendors and illegal parking of vehicles in the town ,Besides the ongoing work on the Tourist Reception Centre Padpawan was also discussed in the meeting.
DDC stressed in the meeting that there is an urgent need of proper waste disposal system and segregation of solid waste management in the town .He reiterated that the beautification of Town is on priority of the District administration for which various steps have been taken so far .
On the occasion, DDC directed the Executive Officer Municipal Committee to monitor the illegal encroachment of roads and foot paths by the street vendors so that the common public should not face any inconvenience. He directed EO municipal Committee to shift all the fruit and vegetable vendors to the identified place at Bus Stand Batpora. He also stressed for the identification of land for segregation of solid waste management in the town.
ARTO Shopian was told to pay regular visit to the various places to check illegal practices by transporters including wrong parking and Chief Executive officer Shopian-Dubijan Development authority was directed to complete all interior work of the centre within due course of time .
The meeting was attended by ADDC Shopian, Chief Executive officer Dubijan authority, Executive Officer Municipal Committee, Ex.Engineer R&B, ARTO and representatives of Traders Federation and fruit &Vegetable Vendors.
