Awareness talk on TB

Chandigarh: In view of World TB Day, medical staff of Civil Dispensary, Sector 49, conducted an awareness talk on tuberculosis (TB).

Around 50 persons attended the talk based on the theme of ‘It’s time’.

People were told to report to the dispensary in case they had cough for more than two weeks, blood in sputum, weight loss or fever.

They were told that anybody could get infected by the bacteria causing TB and the risk of having TB was more in vulnerable group (children below 5 years, elderly people, pregnant women or patients on immuno suppressant drugs).

They were also told about the provision of free medicines and free diagnostic tests and financial support being provided to TB patients.

The talk was delivered by Dr Kirtan Rana, senior resident, Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, PGI, along with Veda, staff nurse, Sonipreet, ANM, and Nisha DOTS provider.
