Fire gutted a two-storey house in Shinkhli village of Dessa in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir last evening.
Reports said Amar Chand along with his other family members were sitting in a room when they suddenly realised that their house has caught fire.
They raised an alarm while rushing out for safety. After hearing cries, the neighbors came for the family’s rescue and tried to douse the flames but raging fire engulfed the entire building.
Reports said the fire tenders could not reach the spot because of no motorable road connectivity.
According to preliminary investigations, the fire originated from the family’s fire place, police said.
“The structure was made of dry cedar wood that’s why the fire spread very rapidly and could not be controlled immediately,” said Ravinder Pal Singh, SP Operation Doda.
“The fire started at 4.45 pm and within two hours entire structure turned into ashes. However no injury or casualty was reported in the incident,” he added.
