Chandigarh, January 29: Transcripts of conversation between the CBI complainant and the SHO of the Mauli Jagran police station and a constable, who were nabbed by the CBI in a graft case, reportedly mention about the payment of a bribe on behalf of two persons, rounded up by the police on allegations of selling drugs.
Yesterday, the CBI had nabbed the SHO of the Mauli Jagran police station, Inspector Baljit Singh, and a constable, Surender Rahti, for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 45,000. Cops from the Mauli Jagran police station had, on January 26, rounded up a few persons, including CBI complainant Ramesh Sharma’s nephew, on allegations of selling drugs. The police had claimed that they had recovered three packets of charas from them and they had allegedly demanded a bribe for not registering a case against them.
The conversation and telephonic recordings between complainant Ramesh Sharma and the accused cops, that are in the possession of the CBI, mention the complainant seeking time for paying the bribe.
The transcripts mention the complainant agreeing to pay Rs 20,000 on behalf of his nephew, Gaurav Sharma, and the rest Rs 35,000 on behalf of Rajesh, alias Kala, to be paid in a few days. Several recordings were done on January 27.
