Militants on Saturday exchanged fire with the government forces in Tangpawa village of Kokernag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Quoting reports, news agency reported that a joint team of army’s 19RR and SOG Anantnag launched cordon and search operation in Tangpwa following “credible” input about the presence of militants in the area.
As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering a brief exchange of fire.
A senior police officer said a brief contact was established between militants and the forces.
He said that the cordon has been tightened around the suspected spot and searches are on.
