DLSA Anantnag organises legal awareness programme
Anantnag, April 30: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Anantnag today organised a legal awareness programme on “Child Abuse & Sexual Violence” at Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS) Anantnag.
Scores of students along with the staff members of GGHSS Anantnag & DLSA Anantnag participated in the programme. The programme was aimed to aware the students regarding the Child Abuse and Sexual Violence and important provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Violence (PoCSV) Ordinance of 2018.
On the occasion, Secretary DLSA Rafia Hassan Khaki spoke in detail about prevalence of Child Abuse including sexual abuse in society. She emphasised that despite its huge prevalence, the violence against children remain often hidden, unseen and under reported. She stressed upon the need to speak up and report the abuse. She added that free legal assistance would be provided to the students and other victims of sexual abuse.
Principal Government Girls Higher Secondary School Anantnag, and Advocate, the Retainer Lawyer also spoke in detail about the importance of legal awareness regarding the “Child Abuse & Sexual Violence” and provisions of the PoCSV Ordinance of 2018 respectively.
