Lucknow, September 30: Former Union minister Jitin Prasad has been house arrested and many other leaders arrested on the first day of the Congress’s seven-day ‘Nyaya Yatra’ from Shahjahnpur to Lucknow for justice for the jailed rape survivour by lodging a case against the rape accused for alleged extortion.

“The Yogi government wants to suppress the voice of Congress party leaders for justice. Today we were to begin a peaceful march from Shahjahanpur to Lucknow but this oppressive BJP government has house- arrested all Congress leaders. They have tried to crush our peaceful voice for justice. It is the constitutional right of every Indian to wage a battle against injustice which no one can prevent,” said Prasada in an audio clip.

To stop the Congress party’s Nyaya Yatra the Shahjahnpur police have blocked the borders of the districts.

Congress leader Ajay Kumar ‘Lallu’ and Secretary All India Congress Committee Dhiraj Gujar have been arrested from their Shahjahnapur hotel and sent to police lines.

On Sunday, Congress MLA Aradhna Misra had announced the ‘Nyaya Yatra’ to demand justice for the jailed Shahjahanpur rape survivor who has pressed charges of rape and sexual exploitation against former BJP union minister Krishanpal Singh alias Chinmayanand who is still in a VVIP super specialty hospital in Lucknow.

The Congress press release pointed out the manner in which the UP government was helping to bail out Chinmayanand by arresting the rape survivor by lodging a counter case of blackmailing for extortion is in order to weaken her case.

“This government has put its might to save such a person who had been accused of rape in 2011 as well in which a case was filed. But the CM Yogi in 2017 government pleaded for dropping the case for which it was flayed by the High Court.  But this government is once again attempting to save this person of disrepute”.
