Chandigarh , May 4 : Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Sh. VP Singh Badnore today presided over Daily War Room meeting. The meeting was attended by Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser, UT, Chandigarh and Sh. Sanjay Beniwal, Director General of Police at Raj Bhawan. The Administrator also interacted with Sh. Arun Gupta, Principal Secretary (Home), Sh. AK Sinha, Finance Secretary, Sh. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation and Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh, Deputy Commissioners of Mohali & Panchkula, Director-PGIMER, Director Health Services and Director Principal, GMCH through Video Conferencing.
WAR ROOM DIRECTIONS
- The Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh stated that after 41 days of lockdown, it was necessary to ease out restrictions for bringing the economy on track and also for giving relief to daily earners. Hence, as per guidelines of Home Ministry, the Chandigarh Administration provided certain exemptions in the lockout. He appealed the residents to strictly follow the directions of Administration relating to social distancing. While thanking the citizens of Chandigarh for positive compliance during curfew period, he appealed to them to cooperate for restraining the spread of infection.
- The Administrator directed the senior officers to focus on Bapu Dham Colony, Sector 30-B and other containment zones. He also instructed Director Health Services to start a special drive for screening and testing suspect cases in the area. He advised the staff to use proper protective gears while going for field operations to reduce the risk of infection.
- The Administrator commended the services of Firemen on the occasion of International Fire Fighters Day. He acknowledged the firemen’s contribution to the society and their exemplary efficiency in tackling the recent fire incidents in PG House and Furniture Market.
- The Administrator announced special office timings in UT offices which will now be from 10:30 AM to 04:30 PM this is necessary to reduce concentration of employees for travel to different offices of Punjab, Haryana and Central Government at the same time.
- The Administrator decided to expand the containment zone in Bapu Dham Colony, so that more people should be brought under intensive screening and their movement outside could be further regulated.
• Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary (Health) stated that regular coordination meeting is taking place with three medical institutions to ensure uniformity in treatment of cases. He stated that adequate quantity of medicines, PPEs etc are available.]
• Sh. AK Sinha, Finance Secretary stated that he is coordinating with the Industry and Trade Associations regarding the relaxation given in the recent order of Administration. Their day to day problems of opening of shops is being sorted out. The entry to the industrial estate has been regulated. All persons entering the industrial estate will be sanitized and thermally checked before entry.
• Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner stated that 1.56 lack cooked food packets have been distributed among the destitutes and needy persons in various parts of the city yesterday. He further informed that 9350 MTs of wheat has been procured from the farmers. He also informed that 2,38,000 persons have downloaded Arogya Setu Application.
• Sh. K K Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation stated that Sector 26 Market has been thoroughly sanitized and cleaned. Efforts are being made to shift part of the Sector 26 Market to ISBT, Sector 17 temporarily, so that the crowd in the market could be reduced. This will be a purely temporary arrangement, he clarified.
• Sh. Vinod P. Kavle, Secretary, Food & Supplies stated that 53,644 eligible families have already been distributed wheat and pulses under PMGKAY. He also stated that feedback from beneficiaries is being collected for further improvement.
• Manoj Parida, Adviser stated that all efforts are being made to ensure that the relaxation given is not being misused. All the field staff are taking care to ensure social distancing at public places.
