Kishtwar: A police official in a sting operation was caught on camera while taking bribe from a driver of a minibus matador. The cop demanded Rs. 3000 from a driver for preparing a challan to be presented in court. It is pertinent to mention here that during the last few days traffic police headed by Dy. SP Pankaj launched a special drive against the offenders violating the traffic rules. And the crack down was equally supported and conducted under the supervision of SSP Harmeet Mehta.
Hundreds of vehicles were challaned and even FIRs were registered.
But in the end the entire traffic drive has led to nothing but police extracting money from vehicle owners.
Such traffic weeks and drives have become the new modus operandi of corruption for police.
