Directorate of School Education Jammu through its Counselling Cell organised a webinar on the topic FUTURE –READY FOR POST-COVID CAREERS, in collaboration with Institute for Career Studies(ICS)International, of which Dr. Amrita Dass ,leading career consultant and one of the pioneering career counsellors of India was the resource person.
More than 2000 participants including students, parents, teachers, counsellors, Principals and others registered themselves and more than 1000 attended it online. This webinar was live-streamed on Facebook on the page of counselling cell DSEJ which benefitted thousands of participants from all the districts.
Anuradha Gupta , Director School Education, Jammu appreciated the efforts of counselling cell DSEJ for choosing a relevant and pertinent topic as mostly children are encountering with this question of post- covid career .She said that with the establishment of psychological laboratories in every DIET, counsellors will be able to perform psychometric tests. She laid emphasis on the importance of counselling services in school as the dire need of the hour.
Prof. Arti Bakshi, Head, Deptt. Of Psychology, University of Jammu highlighted the role of counsellor who is always there for the child to study the actual individual in and out and help him in making right decision.
Dr. Amrita Dass, Founder Director Institute for Career Studies (ICS International), a renowned educationist and career consultant conducted the session in a spell-bound manner. She said that career guidance and counselling is very important and before choosing our career, we must know ourselves, try to collect information and then plan. There will be DIGITAL Transformation in each career field after this covid-19 phase. So, specialisation in one field will not be good enough for future jobs. She talked about Post Covid Career Trends, making ideal subject and career choices and building employability skills.
The session was followed by Q&A session in which students asked varied and interesting questions from the key resource person. They had different career choices like want to be a politician or cyber crime expert or wellness specialist or IAS officer, etc. Their queries were well satisfied by Dr.Amrita Dass and queries raised on facebook or unanswered due to paucity of time will be emailed in a phased manner.
Mr. Romesh kumar Sharma, Head counselling cell said that series of such webinars will be organised in the near future also to benefit the students, parents and teachers.
