Jammu, March 16: Amidst Covid scare in the country, the authorities at the Jammu Tawi railway station have undertaken a drive to sanitise all trains coming to Jammu.
The Railway authorities have washed all trains and removed curtains from all air-conditioned coaches.
According to the railway authorities, the blanket service in AC coaches has also been suspended till further order.
Passengers travelling in air-conditioned coaches of will now have to carry their own blankets and bed sheets for a while.
Officials of the Northern Railways also confirmed that the northern division was following the same, adding that additional bed sheets would be kept for any exigencies. “Some quantity of additional bed-sheets may be kept for any exigencies,” he said.
A team of special staff has cleaned all trains in Jammu and sanitised seats, windows and toilets.
A decline in number of passengers coming to Jammu and Kashmir by train has been noticed in the last one week as the government has issued advisory to avoid travelling.
Meanwhile, the district administration has imposed Section 144 in Jammu as the Ministry of Health and Family Affairs has confirmed 107 Covid cases in the country so far.
