Clarification regarding COVID-19 Positive cases reported on May 18 in Poonch
POONCH, MAY 19: It is brought into the public domain that two COVID-19 positive cases were reported on May 18, 2020 in district Poonch taking the total tally of positive cases to three. However, there was some miscommunication regarding the exact identity of the persons due to the same name. To clarify the issue and to avoid any risk of infection, all the four persons have been isolated and are being tested again today as a precautionary measure.
It is important to highlight here that necessary steps are being taken to identify and isolate the contacts of all four persons in quarantine centers/bus journeys. Presently, there are 3 positive and active cases in the district. However, it is observed that misinformation is being circulated through some media reports/social media messages disclosing the name and identity of positive persons/contacts. It is advised not to spread misinformation and do not divulge details of positive persons/contacts thereof as it may attract legal action under relevant section of DM Act/IPC.
Moreover, all are requested to follow directions issued from time to time including use of masks and maintaining social distancing. It is also made clear that any unnecessary movement is strictly prohibited in the district and strict action as per rules shall be taken against the violators of norms.
