Srinagar, May 20: Two Border Security Force men were killed in a militant attack on the outskirts of Srinagar on Wednesday, officials said.

Some militants on a bike targeted deployment of BSF at Pandach in Ganderbal district, some 17 km from Srinagar, wounding two forces men critically.

“They were immediately shifted to SKIMS hospital where doctors declared them brought dead,” an official said.

Police said militants also took away two weapons after the attack.

Soon after the incident, joint teams of forces cordoned the area and launched a hunt to track the militants involved in the attack.

A senior BSF official in Srinagar said they were trying to find out more about the attack.

The development comes within days of two prominent Hizbul Mujahideen militants—Riyaz Naikoo and Junaid Sehrai—being killed in two separate gunfights with security agencies in the Valley.

Naikoo was killed on May 6 and Sehrai, son of separatist leader Ashraf Sehrai, was killed on May 19.
