Srinagar, May 21: A policeman was killed and another injured in a militant attack in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday, officials said.
They said militants attacked a checkpoint of the police and CRPF at Prichoo, Pulwama, in which two policemen were wounded.
“Two cops were wounded in the attack and were shifted to hospital. One of the injured cops succumbed to his injuries,” an official said, adding that a cordon had been laid around the area to nab the militants.
Soon after the shooting, senior security officials rushed to the spot.
The attack comes a day after militants ambushed a BSF deployment on Srinagar’s outskirts killing two personnel of the force. Their weapons were also taken away by the attackers.
