Doda, January 22: A teenage singer from Bhalessa in Doda district has given a musical tribute to ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’, the Centre’s scheme to save the girl child.
Shaista Sabder sang a song in 2018, which was posted on YouTube, and the viewership, despite the Internet ban, is increasing with each passing day. The song “Allah ki Rehmat Ko Seenay Se Lagana Hai, Kul Hind Ka Naara Hai Beti Ko Bachana Hai” (This gift of Allah has to be adopted overwhelmingly, the entire India has risen to save the girl child) has been written by Riaz Mufeed Khan of Bhalessa and Shaista has lent her voice to it.
Talking to media, Shaista Sabder said it was in October 2018 when she sung this song and posted it on YouTube. “This song is all about how important a girl child is and the society’s duty towards her. The poet has covered almost all angles of importance of a girl in a society.”
Shaista is currently pursuing graduation (Semester III) from Government Degree College, Khilotran, Bhalessa. She did her schooling from Government Higher Secondary, Khilotran, and has been singing since the age of 10.
“I was interested in singing since childhood and my father, who himself is a singer, is my inspiration. When I was in Class VI, my first album of Kashmiri songs was released in Srinagar and since then I have been in this field,” she said.
“The ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ song is unique and I feel privileged to be a part of it. This is something which I will cherish throughout my life,” Shaista added. The teen singer wants her song to be adopted by the government to promote the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ scheme.
