Chandigarh, April 23: Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Sh. VP Singh Badnore today presided over Daily War Room meeting. The meeting was attended by Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser, UT, Chandigarh and Sh. Sanjay Beniwal, Director General of Police at Raj Bhawan. The Administrator also interacted with Sh. Arun Gupta, Principal Secretary (Home), Sh. AK Sinha, Finance Secretary, Sh. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation and Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh, Deputy Commissioners of Mohali & Panchkula, Director-PGIMER, Director Health Services and Director Principal, GMCH through Video Conferencing.

WAR ROOM DIRECTIONS

  1. The Administrator directed the Heads of all the medical institutions to focus on critical Non-Covid cases too, in addition to the special care being given to COVID cases. He mentioned that the stories of all patients cured of COVID should be publicized and the society should celebrate their recovery.
  2. He expressed his happiness that all the 54 Doctors and Health Workers, who were treating the baby patient from Phagwara (Kapurthala) have been tested Negative and found free from any infection. He however, advised the doctors to be careful in segregating COVID and Non-COVID cases during treatment.
  3. The Administrator appealed to the Muslim brothers to observe and celebrate Ramadan indoors and conduct the prayers while maintaining Social Distancing.

• Dr. G. Dewan, Director Health Services informed that 9.92 Lac persons have been covered in door-to-door screening and a total of 586 persons having minor symptoms have further been examined. He also informed that 132 media persons have been screened in the Press Club. Fogging was done in Sector 39, Sector 3, 4, 6 and 19 today.

• Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary Health stated that adequate number of PPEs and masks are available. The Health Department has made necessary preparations as per the COVID Management Plan to tackle any eventuality.

• Sh. A K Sinha, Finance Secretary stated that a discussion has taken place over video conference with the industrialists and their demands are under examination.

• Sh. K K Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal stated that all the vendors of vegetables/fruits, newspapers, bread and milk etc. have been medically screened and provided with necessary protection gears. He also stated that the baby patient, who lost her life in PGIMER has been properly cremated in the electric crematorium in Sector 25.

• Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner informed that 1,49,673 cooked food packets have been distributed among the destitutes and needy persons in various parts of the city. He also informed that 81 NGOs and charitable institutions have come forward to assist the Administration in providing food to the poor. He mentioned that Rs.1.61 crores have been received from various contributions in the local Red Cross Fund for Corona Relief Operations. He mentioned that 3,300 MTs. of wheat has been procured from the farmers till date in Sector 39, Grain Market.

• Sh. Vinod P. Kavle informed that distribution of wheat and pulses under PMGKAY has now been streamlined and all arrangements have been made to ensure that the distribution is carried out properly while maintaining social distancing. The beneficiaries will be given a token in advance indicating the timing of distribution of wheat grains. He also clarified that the foodgrains will only be given to those, who are entitled for ration money as fixed by Central Government.

• Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser stated that the Central Government is monitoring the Covid Management arrangements in the city and no further relaxation could be given under the present curfew. He mentioned that he had heard the grievances of the industrialists through a video conference organized in UT Secretariat. Many of the demands made relate to the Central Government and as such these will be forwarded with favorable recommendations.

• The Administrator appealed to the citizen to strictly follow the Social Distancing Norms and to come out of their houses only if necessary for purchase of essential items from 10:00 AM to 02:00 PM, which is the new relaxation time from tomorrow onwards.
