Chandigarh, May 23: With 14 fresh cases reported on Saturday, the total number of cases in the state has reached 2,043.
According to the media bulletin released in the morning, seven cases were reported from Ludhiana, three each from Jalandhar and Patiala and one case was reported from Bathinda.
Among Ludhiana cases, six are from the Railways Protection Force (RPF). The seventh case neither has any travel history nor his source of infection is known. Earlier, 34 men of RPF were found coronavirus positive in Ludhiana.
The three cases from Jalandhar are those of two health care workers and one migrant worker. Similarly, the Patiala cases also include a health care worker. Two of these have inter-state travel history. The infected person from Bathinda returned from abroad after opening of the lockdown.
As per the health department, so far samples of 62,399 suspected cases were sent for testing. Of them, 55,777 samples were found negative and reports of 4,593 were awaited.
In the state so far, 1,847 positive cases have been discharged after treatment. Now, there are just 157 active cases left.
