Jammu, April 27: The initiative of the Jammu and Kashmir State Legal Services Authority (JKSLSA) to set up a helpline and an activity forum for the youngsters to enhance their artistic instincts and help them during the lockdown has received an overwhelming response.
The initiative was launched under the patronage of Chief Justice of the J&K High Court Justice Gita Mittal and executive chairman, JKSLSA, Justice Rajesh Bindal.
The JKSLSA collaborated with the Directorates of School Education in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh to form a creative activity forum, ‘Activity Karo Na’.
A number of students in different age group exhibited their artistic skills by submitting paintings and self-composed poems on the topic ‘Save the Planet’. The authority has received 706 entries so far.
Over the problems being confronted by youngsters amid the lockdown, the JKSLSA launched a helpline to address queries relating to their educational guidance, e-learning, general knowledge about art galleries and the world museums in addition to counselling related to their intellectual and physical well-being. The helpline is being manned by six secretaries of the DLSA.
Since the launch of the helpline on April 16, 3,692 calls involving 6,696 youngsters have been received. Of them, 962 calls pertained to academics, 1,959 to e-learning, 2 to sports and co-curricular activities, 36 to psychological issues and 733 pertained to general well-being.
