Yet another JKSLSA Legal Helpline ‘Serve-the- Senior Citizens’ facilitates people amid Lockdown
Facility receives immense response from elderly persons
JAMMU, APRIL 28: Under the patronage, innovative approach and persistent guidance of Chief Justice of J&K High Court Justice Gita Mittal; and Executive Chairman JKSLSA, Justice Rajesh Bindal, the J&K State Legal Services Authority ( SLSA) has been working with a mission to provide relief to the distressed and needy by facilitating their livings through the Helplines for standard labourers, general public, victims of domestic violence and children amid the COVID-19 Pandemic Lockdown.
In the similar vein, the initiative of Jammu and Kashmir State Legal Services Authority (JKSLSA) to set up a helpline to redress the grievances of the Senior Citizens of UTs of J&K and Ladakh, who either manage their living all by themselves or find it unmanageable to step out in the wake of lockdown, has received an immense response. Since the launch of the helpline under Serve-the-Seniors Initiative, on April 21, 110 calls were received out of which 54 calls pertained to medicines, 37 calls for groceries and 9 calls for hospital visits.
The helpline was launched to provide assistance to the Senior Citizens in their day to day needs and particularly for procuring medicines, groceries etc. The aim of this initiative was to aid the elderly people who are in immense difficulty to manage their day chores being most vulnerable to contract the virus due to old age. Even their visit to Hospital is being facilitated by the Officers on the helpline.
For this purpose, a team of Nodal Officers, comprising Mr. Naushad Ahmad Khan (9622283677), Ms. Sandeep Kour (9419223000) for Jammu; Mr. Noor Mohammad (9419005744), Ms. Tabasum Qadir Parray (7889835567) for Kashmir; and Ms. SpalzesAngmo (9419341131), Mr. Tsewang Phuntsog (9419978757) for Ladakh, was constituted to facilitate the Senior Citizens.
