Jammu: Counselling Cell Directorate of School Education Jammu in collaboration with Hema Foundation organized an expert talk on the topic – ‘Imbibing Patriotic Values Among Youth’ by one of the renowned psychologists of India Dr. Chinu Aggarwal to commemorate the upcoming 75th Independence Day Celebrations.
Prof. Arti Bakshi, Head, Department of Psychology, University of Jammu was the special invitee on the occasion.
Hema Foundation is a philanthropic arm of the Ram Ratna Group, working towards imparting Cultural & Moral education to children at a very impressionable young age. It looks to enlighten children about the key roles played by parents and society in shaping them into fine individuals.
Director School Education Jammu, Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma emphasized on organising similar events and said that socializing students into a patriotic culture is one of the essential duties of elders and youngsters imbibe the habits and actions of the older generations. Teaching by being an example yourself is the best method to interact with students, he added.
Prof. Arti Bakshi, Head, Department of Psychology, University of Jammu presented the psychological perspective on issue and highlighted the role of patriotic values in building the character of a nation.
Dr. Chinu Aggarwal, Psychologist, Psychotherapist & trustee Hema Foundation highlighted the importance of patriotic values. She said that feeling patriotic and the act of patriotism are the things to make a stronger nation and a patriotic spirit is one of fortitude and strength. When we believe in patriotism and practice patriotic values, it automatically motivates each individual to work towards the betterment of the country. This helps the entire nation in working together and reminds us to keep the values of our country in mind to stay united and together. She further enunciated how each and every individual could contribute towards nation building by taking simple steps, like a student can keep his school and adjoining area clean or motivate neighbors against use of polythene and so on.
Romesh Sharma, Head Counselling Cell DSEJ enlightened upon becoming a patriotic example. He said that one of the important ways to induce patriotism in children is by making conscious decision of exhibiting patriotism at home and hoped that the beginning made by the Counselling Cell of Directorate of School Education Jammu towards imbibing patriotic values amongst school children would grow into a movement and make a huge difference in the attitude of our younger generations.
Preeti Sharma conducted the proceedings of the programme whereas Dr. Alka Sharma presented formal vote of thanks. Counsellor Shanti Saroop Sharma, Dr. Surinder Sharma and Manan Mahajan helped in the smooth conduct of event.
