Five-day Online Faculty Development Program on “Direct Trainer’s Skills and Evaluation of Training” by SCERT concludes

Jammu: 09.10.2021: A five-day Online Faculty Development Program on “Direct Trainers’ Skills and Evaluation of Training” was organized by Teacher Education Wing, SCERTJ&K, Jammu Division with effect from 5th – 9th of October 2021 on the directions of Principal Secretary to Government, School Education Department, Mr. B.K. Singh, IFS and under the able guidance of Director SCERT J&K, Professor Veena Pandita and overall supervision of Joint Director SCERT J&K, Jammu Division Sh. Surinder Kumar.

            The program was inaugurated by worthy Joint Director Sh. Surinder Kumar, who said that, “The teacher educators are the pillars of any training institution; hence, they should keep on updating themselves with the latest of the knowledge. The welcome address was presented by Associate Professor, Head of Teacher Education Wing, Sh. Pawan Gupta, who urged the DIETs to conduct all the upcoming programs in the desired manner”.

            The participants of the program were 50 officers from 10 DIETs of Jammu Division who have attended the Faculty Development Programs on “Training Needs Analysis” and “Design of Training and Implementation”.

            The Faculty Development Program in DTS and EOT was third in series of Faculty Development Programs, the “Training Needs Analysis” and “Design of Training and Implementation” being the first and second, respectively. The objective of the program was to develop the basic instructional skills and the skills of assessing the impact and effectiveness of the training programs, among the trainees.

            With the accomplishment of the program, the Teacher Education Wing of SCERT J&K, Jammu Division has trained a group of five faculty members from each DIET of Jammu division; thus, making them skilled in conducting any training program in desired and efficient manner. Through the three Faculty Development Programs the teacher-educators from respective DIETs have learnt to analyze the requirements of conducting a training program, through Training Needs analysis, designing the Program in desired manner and implementing it in effective way through Design of Training and Implementation and evaluating the effectiveness of the program by internal and external validation through Direct Trainer’s Skills and Evaluation of Training.

          The resource persons in the program were – Dr. J.N. Baliya, Head of Department of Educational Studies, Central University of Jammu, Prof. Dr. Reva Sharma, Director, Trainings, IMPARD J&K Jammu. Dr. VPS Raju, Assistant professor, NIEPA, NCERT, New Delhi, Dr. SunitaZalpuri, Formerly Dean and Head, Centre for Good governance, IMPARD J&K.

            The different sessions of the program included – DTS: an Overview, Methodology of Training Program, Methods of Evaluation, Validation of EOT, Lecturing Effectively, EOT Matrix and its Applicability, Monitoring of Training Program, Effective Delivery of Lecture, Tools and Techniques of EOT, and Writing the Evaluation Report etc. The program also included a number of group exercises and interactive sessions with the resource persons. On the 5th day of the program, group leaders from each DIET gave a presentation on Report Writing, thus, achieving the objective of the program.

            In the Valedictory session, the Joint Director SCERT J&K, Jammu Division, asked the participants to play a key role in conducting the training programs as per the knowledge and skills imparted in  the three Faculty Development Programs. The program concluded with the presentation of vote of thanks by Sh. Pawan Gupta, Associate Professor, Head of Teacher Education Wing in which he expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed to make the Program successful. The program was coordinated by Ms. Rakhi Atri, Academic Officer, SCERT J&K, Jammu.
