Over 62,000 Employees And Students From More Than 11540 Schools Of Jammu Division Celebrate Independence Day

Directorate Of School Education Jammu’s 15 day long 75th Independence Day celebrations culminated today with more than 11540 government schools of Jammu division joining in on the final day today. More than 62,000 employees along with students celebrated the day with utmost fervor and patriotism.

Students, staff members and officials from all the 10 districts of Jammu division celebrated the day by illuminating the schools and offices with lights and decorated them with flowers and balloons. Students dressed up in colourful attires performed various cultural and other activities after hoisting the national flag in their respective schools and offices. Sweets were distributed among students and among people in the vicinity of the educational institution and offices.

In district Jammu more than 1240 schools, district kathua 1233, Samba 367, Reasi 1129, Poonch 1494, Rajouri 1630 , Doda 1246, Udhampur 1515, Kishtwar 812 and in District Ramban approximately 872 schools participated in the celebrations.

In his message to the students, teachers and other officials of the Jammu division, Dr Ravi Shankar Sharma exhorted everyone to remember the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters to free India from the foreign yolk. The Independence came at a heavy price and needs to be preserved with every possible ounce of dedication and commitment, he added. He said that today’s students are tommorow’s future of India and the Directorate will leave no stone unturned in making sure that every possible facility is provided to them and no child remains without formal education. He applauded the efforts put in by the staff members and students in making the celebrations a grand success.

The events were organised under the able guidance of Principal Secretary to Government Mr. B. K. Singh and keen supervision of Chief Education Officers of the respective districts with Director School Education Jammu Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma monitoring the day to day proceedings.
