JAMMU: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has asked the Indian Army for help in restoring essential services in the Union Territory.

After the failure of multiple rounds of talks between the government and employees of PDD department who are on strike, the government of J&K has written to the Ministry of Defence for assistance.

Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Rahul Langer, today,  has written a letter to the Ministry of Defence and put in a requisition for “manpower to man critical electricity stations and water supply sources” as the said essential services are severely affected because of the strike by the Electricity Department employees.

More than 20000 employees of the Electricity Department are on indefinite strike following Government’s decision to privatize the sector.

Last round of talks between the coordination committee of PDD employees and Divisional  Commissioner Jammu along with ADGP Jammu was held in the afternoon today without any breakthrough in the dead lock.
