Jammu: Seeking to implement the National Education Policy-2020 in its true letter and spirit, Directorate of School Education Jammu held a meeting followed by a workshop at Teacher Bhawan, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, which was attended by the delegates from all the 10 districts of Jammu division and members of the division level Education Reform Committee and other officials of the Directorate.
Shri Hem Raj Pakhroo, Joint Director, School Education Jammu presented the welcome address and layed out the purpose and aim of the initiative which was to share ideas, suggestions etc. and prepare actionable points for purposeful implementation of NEP-2020.
Director School Education Jammu, Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma, who was the chief guest of the occasion, said that the development of a nation was dependent on the quality of education as it happens to be the most important tool for the development of national charcter, rendering the capacity building of both, children and teacher, essential and of paramount necessity.
He stressed on teachers and children sharing the learning experience and acquiring local skills which must be polished to make them relevant for the current day and age.
He further stated that quality and sustainability were two sides of the same coin and hoped that the discussions and ideas that emerge out of the meeting cum workshop would help in realizing the vision of strengthening the education system. He asked every one to brain storm and bring to the table valuable additions which would help in formulating a road map enabling comprehensive implementation of NEP-2020 across the Union Territory of J&K in a time bound fashion.
Shri Shokat Mahmood Malik, Joint Director, School Education Jammu presented a detailed power point report laying thread bare the technical as well as other aspects of the National Education Policy 2020 to be deliberated on and anticipated suggestions, feedback, inputs and solutions regarding successful implementation of the education policy.
Ms. Jaswinder Kour, Divisional coordinator Pre-primary Education deliberated on the implementation of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) in schools of J&K UT, highlighting challenges and strategies thereof.
It is pertinent to mention here that ECCE being the foundational stage of primary education has received special focus under NEP 2020 and the Directorate of School Education Jammu has already established well furnished pre-primary sections in many schools and is in the process of strengthening elementary education by launching such sections in schools across Jammu division
An open discussion was also held on the occasion in which different committee members interacted with one another chalking out a road map for the implementation of the policy at ground level.
Amongst others Mr. Altaf Hussain, Joint Secretary JKBOSE, Mr. Surinder Kumar, Joint Director SCERT, Mr. Suraj Singh Rathore, CEO Jammu, Mr. Prakash Lal Thapa, CEO Kathua, Principals and Lecturers from various schools, Dr. Jagdish Raj Panotra, Nodal Officer Adharshila, Mr. Yasser Rasool, Media and Community Outreach Cell DSEJ and other officials and take holders were present on the occasion.
Dr. S P Pourush Shrikhandia, Coordination Cell DSEJ, presented the formal vote of thanks formal vguest thanks while Dr. Alka Sharma, Counseling cell DSEJ, carried out the proceedings of the meeting. Mr. Love Sharma, Ms. Shveta Sharma and Mr. Gourav Bali provided the technical support to make the meeting a successful one.
