‘Basant Panchami’ festival celebrated with gaiety in the schools of Kathua district

kathua: On the auspicious occasion of ‘Basant Panchami’, the Education sector of district kathua celebrated the festival fervently by organizing a host of different events in different schools of the district.

Events like cultural presentations, traditional songs, classical dances, poetry, speeches, crafts, drawing & poster-making contests amongst students at schools etc. were organized across the district.

Though majority of the participation was done in online mode, proper COVID SOPs were followed wherever there was physical attendance.


Various participants from school shared their presentations in social media platforms of education department & were appreciated a lot.

According to the culture of India, the day of Basant Panchami is also marked as the day of the arrival of summer season and the inflow of outside. Welcoming the summer season, teachers and students were also seen enjoying kite flying in many institutions. Most of the teachers & students came to the schools in yellow clothes. Students also participated in traditional hobbies like kite making.
Shri Prakash Lal Thapa, CEO Kathua, while highlighting the importance of Basant Panchami, appreciated this effort of all the HOIs and also called for celebrating all the festivals related to Indian culture in schools and informing the children about the importance and significance of that particular day.

He said that with the arrival of spring, one gets rid of the chilling cold and yellow flowers bloom everywhere. It is a beginning of a new season so let all the officials and teaching community make a news beginning too and take Education to newer heights, he added.

Smt. Monika Khosla, head of District Cultural and Education Cell, Kathua thanked all the Zonal coordinators for celebrating Basant Panchami on a wide scale in district Kathua and urged them to celebrate various cultural programs at school level in future also. She also thanked Shri Paawan Vivek ji, DRG Kathua, District Resource Center Kathua, for his untiring efforts & playing an advance role in every program.
A lot of enthusiasm was also seen on this occasion in various schools of the district such as GHSS Budhi, GHSS Basantpur, GHSS Hatli, GMS Chack RIjju, GHS Jakhbar, GHSS Nagri Parole, GHS Lower Badholi, GHSS Sumwan, GHS Sandhar, GHSS Bhaddu, GHSS Nagri Parole, GHSS Ramkot, GHSS kathera, GHSS Sallan, GHSS PArnalla, GHS Govindsar, GHS Barnoti, GHS Jaglote, GHSS Chandwan, GHS Rajbagh, GHS Uchapind, GHS Lower Rajwalta, PMS Dhamyal, GHS Dhanjsdhar, GMS Kheri, GHSS Mahanpur etc.
