Jammu: Kabir Jayanti was celebrated in Goverment schools across Jammu Division with students participating in various activities revolving around the teachings of the 15th century mystic saint, such as doha recitation, one act plays, lectures, debates, seminar etc. The events were organised under the supervision of the concerned Chief Education Officers at district level with the aim of promoting cultural and moral values amongst the students.
Cultural and Education Cell of Directorate of School Education Jammu also organised an online webinar which was attended by the students, teachers and officials of Education Department.
Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma, Director School Education Jammu was the Chief guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, he said that there was a great depth of knowledge in the teachings and philosophy of Saint Kabir which he expounded through his couplets and these teachings were relevant in today’s social context as much as they were relevant in the 15th century, during his day and age. One should try to grasp the deeper meaning contained in his couplets and try to emulate them in life, he added.
Guest speakers Mr. Ranjay Kumar, Senior Lecturer from Goverment Model Higher Secondary School Ramban, Mr. Neeraj Sharma, Master, Government High School Ladh, Udhampur, Mr. Chaman Lal, Teacher, Goverment Middle School Payour, Samba presented their self composed couplets ( Doha) and along with student speakers , Ms. Tannu Bharti from GHSS Sohal, Jammu, Ms. Kashish Sharma from GHSS Sunderbani, Rajouri and Ms. Sabha Sajad GHSS Shiendara, Poonch brought to fore the teachings, ideology and philosophy of Saint kabir Das in detail along with Mr. Surjit Hosh Badsali, Cultural and Education Cell, DSEJ, who was the key note speaker on the occasion.
Ms. Supriya Sharma moderated the webinar while Mr. Ashutosh Sharma, Cultural and Education Cell, DSEJ provided technical support.
