CHIEF EDUCATION OFFICER KATHUA HOLDS MEETING REGARDING SMOOTH FUNCTIONING OF SCHOOLS

Kathua: A meeting was convened in the premises of the office of the Chief Education Officer for district Kathua regarding the smooth functioning of the schools of the district. The Meeting was chaired by Mr. P. L. Thapa, CEO Kathua and attended by the Head of the Institutions of various schools across the district.

At the outset of the meeting, the CEO welcomed all the Principals, Headmaster and Incharge Headmasters of the schools of the district and briefed them about the agenda of the meeting. Mr. Thapa said that since the regular working of the schools has been fully resumed, it becomes the responsibility of respective HOIs to make sure that the practices and procedures are followed in the schools at all times. He said that he is satisfied with the required COVID SOPs implemented in schools and stressed that it should continue to remain so.

He said that the period of the pandemic has brought us closer to technology and its various aspects that can be availed for the betterment of the education system on the whole and it becomes imperative for the HOIs to prepare themselves and their respective staff members to become savvy in using various technologies.

He said that it is essential that everyone is updated on working on several portals such as PFMS, AADHARSHILA, BEAMS and EPM. He emphasized that the role of HOIs and DDOs has become crucial as they are supposed to verify the information submitted by employees on various portals.

He said that it has been observed that several individuals do not check the information available on official websites, via E-mails and Official WhatsApp groups which is vital in this age.

Initiatives such as the HCL-TECH BEE project for the benefit of students of class 12th studying in Mathematics and Commerce background and many others easily go unnoticed who are not active on the internet. To make sure it does not happen, the HOIs should work on functioning and upkeeping of ICT Labs/ CAL Centers, Smart classrooms, provision of working internet and installation of solar panels wherever possible. The same can be achieved by utilization of funds from local funds and PRI, BDC or DDC grants.

The CEO said that the flow of information in a timely manner is the need of the hour for which he seeks a smooth order with the help of HOIs in the maintenance and submission of school records which include portal reports, activity reports, cash books, stock records, utilization certificates, attendance and leave records, enrollment records, school results’ records, joining and relieving information, verified service books of the staff and others.

He said that respective HOIs and DDOs should work proactively and make sure the records are in order and available to the CEO’s office anytime on a requirement basis. He said that Cluster Heads and other monitoring committees should make it a regular practice to visit schools in their respective jurisdictions and extend their support wherever required and guide the stakeholders accordingly.
The Chief Education Officer said that since there are many State and Centre-sponsored schemes for the benefit of the students and schools, we should try to take maximum advantage. In the same vein, the HOI of every school is to ensure the preparation of FDR for the Beti Anmol Scheme. He also said to focus on the implementation of the MY SCHOOL MY PRIDE program in schools of the district and make it a success.
In the end, the Chief Education Officer thanked all the attendees for their cooperation and for making the meeting fruitful. He again directed all HOIs to work effectively and coordinate with his office and help strengthen the system.
