Udhampur: Earth day was celebrated in all the 11 zones of District Udhampur with great enthusiasm as per the Cultural Calendar issued by DSEJ. The ZICC coordinated the different activities on the Earth day which include Poster Making, Painting, Debates, Seminars,Symposium,Quiz Competition etc.
Total of 698 schools participated in these activities covering 4087 students.
The theme of World Earth Day 2022 was ‘Invest in our Planet’ calling for businesses to shift towards sustainable practices. This movement is expected to change the business climate, the political climate, and how to take the action on the climate.
Plantation activities were also carried out in various schools by involving all the staff members and various Medicinal and Ornamental plants were planted with in the school premises.
It is pertinent to mention that the School Education Department has initiated a series of programs to Save the Earth from Deforestationand to conserve water by involving the students and by inculcating in them the spirit of Love for Nature.
IEC activities and awareness campaign was also conducted to Save Earth on the occasion of Earth Day.
DICC Rakesh Singh also motivated and exhorted all the ZICC’s/SNO’s to aware the students and society to save the Forest in order to make the Planet green as forest cover in India is less than what is expected.
All the activities were carried out under the supervision of Chief Education Officer Udhampur, Sh. Arvin Kumar Koul who regularly visits different institutions and always asks the staff members to do more and more plantation in their institutions in order to beautify schools.
