Kathua: In a significant move towards promoting water conservation, the “Har Ghar Jal” pledge was initiated by the teachers of GMS Ramnagar, Ms. Meena Sharma and Ms. Shailja Jasrotia, under the supervision of HOI Mr. Shubhash Sharma. Students were encouraged to pledge to save water and utilize it judiciously.

“Har Ghar Jal”, translating to “Water in Every Home”, is a crucial initiative that aims to inculcate the habit of water conservation among young minds.

The significance of this pledge lies in its potential impact, as it instills in students the understanding of the precious nature of water and the necessity of its judicious use.

The initiative is grounded in a rich history of water conservation efforts worldwide.

Recognizing the growing global water crisis, various movements have emerged over the years, emphasizing the importance of saving water. The “Har Ghar Jal” pledge is an extension of these movements, tailored to the context of our local communities.

Students responded positively to the initiative, committing to conserve water in their daily lives. One student remarked, “I’ve learned how important it is to save water. I will make sure to turn off the tap when I’m not using it.”

The teachers, Ms. Sharma and Ms. Jasrotia, expressed their satisfaction with the response from students. They emphasized the role of schools in shaping the habits and attitudes of the younger generation towards environmental conservation.

The “Har Ghar Jal” pledge not only promotes the conservation of water but also underscores the potential of schools as catalysts for change in our society. This initiative is an excellent example of how education can contribute to broader social and environmental goals.
