Kathua 21 August 2024: DIET Basholi today organized a comprehensive One-Day Capacity Building Cum Orientation Programme for teachers of the Malhar Zone at High School Dewal, Billawar. The programme aimed to equip educators with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively identify Children with Special Needs (CSWN) and promote inclusive education practices.
Welcoming the participants, Mr. Mohinder Kumar, DIET Basholi, stressed the crucial role teachers play in ensuring equitable access to education for all students. He highlighted that inclusive education goes beyond addressing learning challenges but encompasses fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all.
The programme comprised four interactive sessions.
This first session introduced the concept of inclusive education, exploring its principles and legal frameworks guiding its implementation in schools. Experts provided insights into various types of special needs, including physical, intellectual, emotional, and learning disabilities. Teachers received training on recognizing early signs and differentiating between students who may require additional support.
The third session focused on practical strategies for fostering an inclusive classroom. Educators were introduced to differentiated instruction, assistive technologies, and the development of individualized education plans (IEPs).
This last hands-on session allowed teachers to work together, analyze real-life scenarios, and develop action plans for supporting CSWN. Sharing their experiences and learning from each other, teachers gained valuable insights.
The programme concluded with a feedback session where participants expressed their appreciation for the knowledge gained and the practical tools provided. They emphasized the need for continued professional development opportunities to enhance their inclusive education skills.
* Regular follow-up workshops and training sessions to empower teachers with ongoing support
* Establishment of a support network among teachers within the zone for resource sharing and strategy exchange
The organizers extend their sincere gratitude to all participants, trainers, and DIET Basholi officials for their contributions to the success of this programme. Special thanks go to the Malhar Zone Education Office for their invaluable support.
