Jammu Sanskriti School, Jammu, proudly participated in a one-day Launch and Capacity Building Program organized by CBSE at the National Science Centre, New Delhi. The event, titled “Promoting Child Protection, Legal Literacy (The POCSO Act), and Psychological Well-Being: Emerging Challenges ;Promoting Best Practices,” aimed to enhance awareness and understanding of child protection laws and psychological well-being among adolescents.
Representing the school, Adolescents Peer Educators Ashutosh Sharma and Tanmay Kandal – 9th Graders, alongside Anupama Sharma, TGT IT, showcased their initiatives in a dedicated stall. The exhibition highlighted the students’ efforts in promoting child protection under the POCSO Act 2012, the Juvenile Justice Act 2015, and child rights through interactive sessions, street plays, poster making, and case studies.
The event’s highlight was the launch of comprehensive manuals on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO Act) and well-being resources. Participants engaged in hands-on training workshops designed for teachers, counselors, and peer educators, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
Esteemed CBSE officials, including Sanjay Kumar- IAS, Secretary, Deptt. of School Education and literacy,Ministry of Education, Government of India, Rahul Singh IAS, Chairperson CBSE, Dr. Biswajit Saha- Director (Skill Education and Training) CBSE, Dr. Praggya M. Singh-Director Academics, CBSE and Dr. Jatinder Nagpal-Convener, Sr. psychiatrist, Life Skills and School Mental Health Expert, Program Director, Expressions India- graced the event, underscoring the importance of child protection and legal literacy.
Sarika Sharma, Coordinator of the Peer Educators Program ensured the students’ full participation in role plays, case studies, jingles, and psychometric games which demonstrated their enthusiasm and dedication to promoting child rights and well-being.
