*Kathua The 116th birth anniversary of the great revolutionary, Shaheed Shivram Hari Rajguru, was commemorated with great zeal and enthusiasm various schools of zone Barnoti today.
At Govt MS Jasrota in morning assembly, Headmaster Sr. Gurnam Singh delivered an inspiring address, recounting Rajguru’s life and perjuangan. He informed the students that Rajguru was born on August 24, 1908, in the village of Khed, Pune, to Hari Narayan and Parvati bai.
Rajguru joined the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA) in 1928, known for its struggle against British colonial rule. He was an expert marksman and one of the key members of the association’s armed wing.
In 1931, Rajguru played a pivotal role in the assassination of British police officer J.P. Saunders, along with Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev. The trio was arrested and sentenced to death by hanging.
Rajguru’s execution on March 23, 1931, shook the nation and became a symbol of India’s fight for independence.
“Rajguru’s supreme sacrifice inspires us to work selflessly for the welfare of our country,” said Navin Kumar, Teacher, who also addressed the students.
The assembly concluded with a pledge made by the students to uphold the ideals of Rajguru and to strive for a just and equitable society.
Throughout the day, various activities were organized in honour of Rajguru. Students performed patriotic songs and recited poems, while teachers led discussions on his life and legacy.
At HSS Budhi under the leadership of Sh Omprakash Principal & at HSS Forelain Sh Karan Singh this day was celebrated.
‘’Shaheed Rajguru’s birthday anniversary is a reminder of the immense sacrifices made by our freedom fighters,” said one student participant. “His bravery and determination continue to motivate us today.”
Similarly in UPS Malaman,GMS Baira & Ups Gurhapanditan Rajguru was remembered by staff & Students.
