Janmashtami and Sanskrit week Celebrated with Fervor in Kathua Schools

Kathua:  Schools across Kathua district witnessed grand celebrations of Janmashtami, marking the birth of Lord Krishna.

The celebration in the schools commenced its celebrations with special prayers and devotional songs during morning assembly. Students sang hymns and danced to traditional bhajans, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The school community highlighted the cultural and spiritual significance of the festival, emphasizing its power to foster communal harmony.

The schools of district observed a day-long program filled with music, dance, and cultural performances. Students showcased their talents in classical and folk dance, while others recited devotional poems and sang bhajans. The school also organized a “Fancy Dress” competition where students dressed up as Lord Krishna, Radha, and other characters.

The schools of the district celebrated Janmashtami with a special assembly where students presented speeches and skits highlighting the teachings of Lord Krishna. The assembly also featured a “Matki Phod” competition, where students competed to break a pot filled with water while blindfolded.

In addition to Janmashtami celebrations, the schools also marked the occasion with a week-long Sanskrit Week. Students participated in various competitions such as essay-writing, poetry recitation, and Sanskrit calligraphy. The week aimed to promote the study of Sanskrit and enhance students’ appreciation for the ancient language.

These celebrations not only honored the birth of Lord Krishna but also provided students with an opportunity to learn about their cultural heritage, develop their artistic talents, and strengthen bonds of friendship and community.
