In a bid to uphold the democratic spirit and encourage greater participation in the electoral process, GHSS Gurah Kalyal Zone Bhaddu, District Kathua, recently organized an enlightening program on the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP). This initiative is in line with the Election Commission of India’s flagship program aimed at enhancing voter education, awareness, and literacy across the country.
The event was graced by the presence of Shri Vinay Khosla, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Billawar, who delivered an informative lecture on the SVEEP initiatives. He emphasized the importance of educating electors about the procedures for registering names in the Electoral Roll, making necessary corrections, and deletion of names of shifted or deceased family members.
The program was marked with various activities, including a debate competition and a quiz competition, to engage students in a comprehensive understanding of the electoral process. The students displayed great enthusiasm, particularly during the quiz competition, reflecting their keen interest in the democratic process.
Consolation prizes were distributed among the students who participated in the activities, further motivating them to participate in such events in the future.
The event was successfully conducted under the guidance of Principal GHSS Gurah Kalyal, Smt. Surekha Raina. The school is dedicated to organizing similar educational events in the future, fostering a well-informed and participatory democratic spirit among the students.
