MLA Farooq Ahmad Shah has unveiled a skill development program aimed at empowering the youth of the Gulmarg Constituency through specialized training in the tourism sector. In a meeting held with the Principal of the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) Srinagar, Shah outlined the upcoming launch of three-month training courses designed to boost employability for local youth.

Set to begin in Tangmarg, the initiative will provide focused training for Food & Beverage (F&B) Executives. The program includes two months of theoretical instruction, followed by a month of practical training. Graduates will receive official certification from IHM, providing them with a solid foundation to enter the hospitality industry.

Highlighting the program’s objectives, MLA Shah said, “This initiative is part of my campaign commitment to establish a Tourism Training Institute in Gulmarg. Our aim is to equip local youth with the skills needed to secure respectable employment within the growing tourism industry.”

Additionally, Shah expressed plans to collaborate with local hoteliers upon the completion of the initial training batches, encouraging them to recruit skilled workers from the constituency. “We envision transforming Gulmarg into a model constituency, supporting the young talent that has been long overlooked,” he stated.

This initiative underscores the MLA’s dedication to sustainable development, providing practical job skills and advancing economic growth in the region.
