Bhaderwah, September 27 : In a collaborative initiative to promote cleanliness and environmental awareness, District Jail Bhaderwah and Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu, jointly organized a one-day workshop on the Swachh Bharat Mission at District Jail Bhaderwah. The event brought together inmates of District Jail Bhaderwah, students of Bhaderwah Campus, and officials from both institutions, aiming to inspire a collective commitment towards the goals of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Prof. J P Singh Joorel, Rector Bhaderwah Campus, in his message, congratulated the prison department, particularly the Superintendent of Police, District Jail Bhaderwah, for organizing the workshop on such a vital subject. He emphasized the importance of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, highlighting that it is not just a governmental initiative but a movement that requires the active participation of every individual in society. He expressed his appreciation for the collaboration between the prison and the university in organizing this meaningful event.
The Superintendent of Police, District Jail Bhaderwah, Mr. Hamidullah Naik, in his address, thanked Rector Bhaderwah Campus for the collaborative venture. He underlined the significance of the Swachh Bharat Mission, initiated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on Gandhi Jayanti (October 2nd ) each year, as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean and self-reliant India. Mr. Naik urged the jail inmates and students to become ambassadors of the mission, encouraging them to take the message of cleanliness beyond the confines of the event and integrate it into their daily lives.
Dr. Shayan Javed, Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics, Bhaderwah Campus, also spoke at length about the importance of the mission, emphasizing its role in improving public health, environmental sustainability, and overall quality of life. He highlighted how the Swachh Bharat Mission is a step towards creating a cleaner and healthier India, one community at a time.
Arif Haleem Khateeb, External Relations Officer, Bhaderwah Campus, also spoke on the occasion, expressing his gratitude to the SP District Jail for initiating the event. He noted that under the able guidance of Rector Prof. J.P. Singh Joorel, Bhaderwah Campus is committed to organizing more such awareness programs in the future, which will greatly benefit the community.
Additionally, students from the School of Education, Bhaderwah Campus Shariq Ahmed, Komal Thakur, Shallini Kotwal , Ayushi Gupta took the stage to share their thoughts and insights on the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, stressing the pivotal role that youth can play in carrying forward the mission’s objectives.
The workshop concluded with a sense of renewed responsibility among the participants, leaving them motivated to contribute actively to the cleanliness drive and make Swachh Bharat a reality in their respective communities.
