Ganderbal: In a remarkable feat, Cyber Cell Ganderbal has achieved significant milestones in combating cybercrime, recovering 87 lost or stolen smartphones worth ₹16 lakhs and addressing financial frauds totaling ₹17 lakhs since its inception in March 2024.
During a small ceremony held today, 13 recovered smartphones were handed over to their rightful owners, bringing the total number of returned devices to 74. The remaining smartphones, valued at ₹16 lakhs, reflect the diligent efforts of the Cyber Cell.
In financial fraud cases, Cyber Cell Ganderbal has successfully accounted for ₹17 lakhs, with ₹3,78,527 already credited back to victims’ accounts. Additionally, the team has resolved over 56 cases related to blackmail and social media account hacking, providing much-needed relief to the victims.
Speaking at the event, SSP Ganderbal Raghav S praised the Cyber Cell team for their dedicated efforts and urged the public to report cybercrime without hesitation. “Our team is committed to ensuring every complaint is handled with sincerity and sensitivity,” he said.
To further support the community, SSP Ganderbal announced the establishment of a 24×7 Cyber Helpline (9541786772), available to assist residents with any cyber-related issues.
